Tutorial: New Year’s Peacocky Look (Smoky Eyes)

New Year’s Eve Look Using Peacocky Eye Shadows

Since I had finished the overview of MAC’s Peacocky collection New Year’s Eve morning, I figured I could test out items from the collection by wearing them to a NYE party and get ready for the Peacocky review. This year, I kept the look pretty simple. Although I created this look for New Year’s, it’s a smoky eye you could wear for any night out.

Face Mixture of Maybelline Super Stay Makeup in Sand Beige and Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + in 30
Cheeks Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten in Golden Apricot Highlighter in Bellini, Illamasqua Gleam Cream highlighter in Flex, MAC Pigment in Vanilla, N.Y.C. Matte Bronzer in 720A Sunny
Eyes Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study, MAC Mega Metal Shadows in Dalliance and Unflappable, MAC eye shadows in Copperplate (Matte2) and Gesso (Matte2), Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero, Maybelline One by One Volum’Express mascara in Blackest Black, false lashes
Lips CoverGirl Outlast lipstain in 425 Plum Pout, Stila Long Wear Lip Color in Coquette, NYX lip liner in 810 Natural, MAC Pigment in Vanilla

For the Eyes:
Apply your eye shadow primer and Bare Study Paint Pot. Use a dense, flat eye shadow brush and apply Dalliance to the inner third of your eyes, until slightly above your crease, and blend out to the outer corner of your eyes. You want the color to be intense on the inner third of your lids and then gradually fade outward. With a pencil brush, apply Dalliance to the inner third of your lower lash line. Take Copperplate eyeshadow and, with a large, rounded, fluffy eye shadow brush, apply it to your crease and a little above your crease. With a smaller blending brush than you just used for the crease, apply Unflappable in a sideways “V” shape at the outer corners of your eyes. Again with a pencil brush, apply Unflappable to the rest of the lower lash line, next to where you’ve applied Dalliance. Then, with any fluffy brush, put Gesso under your eyebrows. Finally, line your eyes and put on mascara.

For the Lips:
Apply a lip stain and let it sink in for a few minutes (you can do your eyes while waiting). Apply the Long Wear Lip Color on top to make the lip stain look less harsh. Marker lip stains look very harsh by themselves, so it’s important to put something on top of them. To give your lips more dimension, use the Natural lip liner and feather the lip liner inward, leaving an oval shape in the middle of your lips where you haven’t applied the lip liner. Finally, dab Vanilla pigment onto the center of your lips for a subtle sparkle.

It is the best drugstore foundation I have used and is especially good for combination or oily skin. The only downside is that it has no sunscreen.

I love this look! I am obsessed with eye shadows. I am constantly changing the way I wear my eyeshadow daily. I especially LOVE using gold. I have brown eyes as well and the gold really brings out brown eyes.

Thank you very much. I do my best to get accurate color captures in the photographs so that you can see exactly what you’ll be getting when you buy the products.
