Reveiw & Swatches: FaceFront Lust Quest Color Volume Mineralized Blushes

Color Volume Mineralized Blushes

FaceFront’s Lust Quest collection contains 2 blushes in Lustful and I Dream of Peaches. They cost $15.00 each and will be available April 20, 2011.

Please see this post for more photos and swatches.

Company’s Description — Blush

Mineralized Blush is a high-performance, sweat resistant, long-wearing, color-true formula that is fabulous enough for everyday use, but even better for professional make-up artistry. The finely milled loose powder is made from an imported genuine, Cruelty-Free Peace Silk Complex for a soft comfortable wear, while our high-color concentrates allow for use on all skin color types and tones.

Packaging: 9/10

These powders come in plastic jars that have twist-off tops and sifters inside. The packaging is lightweight and the tops fit securely, making these good for putting in your makeup case. Each jar also has a glittery, silver heart painted on the inside of the lid.

Loose powders are inevitably more messy than pressed powders, but the holes in the sifters are the right size so that you don’t get too much powder going everywhere.

Each jar lid has a clear plastic sticker on it displaying the company’s logo. I would prefer the logo to be printed directly onto the jar. But this preference is minor, and given that FaceFront is a newly re-vamped company, I expect that the packaging designs will change and improve over time.

Quality: 8.25/10

Lustful is a very light pink color. I Dream of Peaches is a light, slightly burnt orange color. Both blushes have a ton of shimmer in them, but the shimmer looks toned-down once it’s on the cheeks.

Lustful isn’t a color that will show up pink on your skin unless you are an NC/NW 20/25 or lighter. But it would make a beautiful highlighter for darker skin. I Dream of Peaches won’t really work for most people, but some darker skin tones do look good with an orange-toned color on the cheeks.

Both colors apply smoothly and you can build up the color as desired.

Ease of Use: 9/10

You should use a denser brush to apply these colors. You can still build color gradually with as many layers as you want.

Application is the same as with other loose powders: just tap the jar while it’s still closed to get powder into the top part of the jar, dip in your brush, swirl the brush around in the cap, and apply.

Applying these products won’t be as simple as applying pressed powders, but that’s the nature of application when you’re working with loose minerals.

Price: 9.5/10

These blushes are $15.00 and 9g each. You are getting a ton of product for the price you’re paying. For comparison, Bare Escentuals blushes give you 0.85 g of product for $18. You are getting more than 10 times the amount of product for less money. Everyday Minerals blushes have 5.5 g of product and are $9 each.

Also, the Ouro Fino blushes are the same size but cost $17.50 each. You’re getting a great deal with these blushes.

Toss if: you want matte blushes
