This soothing formula features delicious organic mint and blood orange essential oils to refresh and cool the lips. With every application, a micro delivery of super antioxidant resveratrol provides lips with long-term age-repairing benefits. Each balm contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine.
Bite Beauty, a company that specializes in lip products, offers 8 shades in their SPF 15 Sheer Balm line. Unfortunately, the sample PR sent me did not have a name on it, but from what I can tell, the color reviewed here is most likely Carmine (Starfruit is another possibility).
Bite Beauty’s balms come in dark grey, rubbery plastic tubes that twist to reveal more product.
As the name suggests, this lip balm gives your skin a sheer tint of color. Carmine is a sheer red that would be flattering on any skin tone. The formula is very moisturizing and soft without being waxy. It has a minty scent that gives the lips a slight tingling sensation.
While I fully support this lip product having an SPF of 15 (I wish more lip products provided sun protection), the failing of the Sheer Balm is that it does not have full-spectrum UV protection. The active ingredients–Octinoxate and Oxybenzone–protect against UVB and only some UVA rays.
Ease of Use: 10/10
This product couldn’t be easier to use. It glides on effortlessly and you get the advantage of color without having to worry about precise application because of the sheer finish.
For $19.00 you get 0.1 ounces of lip balm. MAC’s Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15 costs $15.00 and contains 0.16 ounces of balm but doesn’t give you any color. Even so, $19.00 is high given the amount of balm you get.
