Cult favorite Black Honey shimmers in this beautifully blended powder. It instantly creates a sheer, subtle radiance that looks great on everyone, just like the classic that inspired it.
In the Fall, Clinique released its Black Honey collection, following in the step of the cult-favorite Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
The Shimmering Tones Powder, reviewed here, features Black Honey as one of its three colors.
This powder comes in a semi-opaque, square, plastic compact that snaps shut. The top of the compact is decorated with a very pretty embossed flower design. The packaging is lightweight, but I do wish there were a mirror included.
If you use the colors individually, you can get a maroon-toned brown, light champagne-pink, and soft white out of this powder. When the colors are mixed together, you get a shimmery, bronzed-rose color.
The formulation is fantastic. It’s smooth without being even the tiniest bit powdery. The shimmers are extremely finely milled, giving the skin a beautiful sheen without any chunky glitter effect. The color is flattering and can be used as a blush that gives the cheeks a sun-kissed feeling.
Clinique’s Shimmering Tones Powder may remind you of Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks. The sheen with Clinique’s powder is less frosty, which allows you to obtain a more subtle finish. The formula is also a little softer.
Ease of Use: 10/10
This powder glides onto the skin evenly and the formulation allows you to apply a subtle sheen or layer for more dramatic color. Because each individual color comes in its own square, it is also easy to apply one color at a time, making it possible to use the colors for the eyes.
For $32.50, you get 9 grams of product. In comparison, Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks cost $39.00 but contain 10.3 grams of product. The math works out so that you get slightly more product for the price you pay if you purchase Clinique’s Shimmering Tones Powder.
