Lip Perfection Lipsticks are CoverGirl’s newest lipsticks and come in 44 shades. CG has divided the shades into 4 categories: Browns, Lilacs/Mauves/Burgundies, Nudes/Corals/Reds, and Pinks to Roses. The breadth of the color range for this line is amazing.
For this review, I tried the colors Sultry, Kiss, Spellbound, Embrace, Darling, and Fairytale.
For being a drugstore brand, these lipsticks have very sophisticated packaging. These rectangular tubes come in semi-matte, semi-reflective, slate/purple plastic. The bottom of the tubes show the lipstick color.
Though the packaging looks nice, it does get fingerprint marks on it very easily. I also wish the name of the product (instead of only the name of the color) was somewhere on the packaging.
These lipsticks are excellent. First, they are very, very pigmented and opaque. Second, they have the right level of softness, which makes them apply smoothly. Third, they are long-wearing, especially the bolder colors. In fact, some of them (like Embrace, Fairytale, and Spellbound) are so pigmented that, even after I took off the lipstick using makeup remover, the color was still there. For some of them, I had to wait a day to continue doing swatches because the color adhered so strongly.
These lipsticks have a scent to them–sort of a mix between vanilla and plastic. The scent isn’t strong, so unless you’re extremely sensitive to smells, it shouldn’t bother you.
The only negative I have about this lipstick is that the sparkly ones will leave micro-glitters behind if you accidentally smudge them or after you remove them.
You also shouldn’t make anything of CG’s “beautiful lips in just 7 days” claim. There aren’t any ingredients in this lipstick that will change the appearance of your lips over time.
Ease of Use: 9/10
The lipsticks apply easily because they are smooth and soft. For the softer/neutral colors, you can apply them out of the tube. For the brighter colors, I’d suggest using a lip brush. They are so pigmented and opaque that you’ll want a brush to apply it precisely.
For $6-7, this is a great price for a great product. Plus, you can usually buy drugstore brands at sale prices, like buy-one-get-one 50% off.
Try if: you want to try out bright colors but have been afraid to–this line has great bright colors, you can return them easily if you don’t like them, and they don’t cost much
Buy if: you want smooth, opaque, pigmented lipsticks
