Review & Swatches: e.l.f. Matte Lip Color Pencils

e.l.f. Matte Lip Color Pencils

This review covers the 4 e.l.f. Matte Lip Color Pencils in Coral, Natural, Tea Rose, and Praline.

These lip pencils cost $3.00 each and can be purchased at

Company’s Description

This convenient jumbo sized lip pencil creates exact color application with twist up ease so you never have to sharpen. The pigment rich color glides on effortlessly and easily to provide long lasting matte color. The enriched Vitamin A, C & E formula moisturizes and hydrates lips for beautiful healthy looking lips.

Packaging: 9/10

These lip pencils come in matte plastic twist-tubes that show the color of the product at the base of the pencil. My only criticism of this packaging is that it doesn’t come with a built-in sharpener.

Quality: 9.5/10

All these colors are wearable. Coral is a light peachy coral color, Natural is a pinky nude, Tea Rose a medium pink, and Praline a reddish light brown color. Natural and Tea Rose look very similar on the lips, so you probably don’t need both of them.

These pencils all glide on smoothy and apply evenly. Even though they are matte, they leave a slight dewiness on the lips and are not at all drying.

They also have pretty good staying power–3 to 4 hours if you don’t eat or drink.

Ease of Use: 9.5/10

These pencils glide on smoothly. The pointed tip makes application precise, but after you’ve worn down the end, you’ll need to sharpen it to get that precise application again.

Price: 10/10

These pencils have 1.8 g of product and cost $3.00. This is a phenomenal price for a great product.

  2. Falon says:

These are absolutely gorgeous! I am so buying a bunch of these on Friday. It amazes me how high quality and low cost E.L.F. products are!

  3. I’ve never tried anything from ELF before. I’ve heard the great reviews but nothing has really tempted me enough to go looking for the product but I think I need to try these! I’m on the hunt for non-drying lip liners that I can use for an all-over application under lipsticks that lack staying power. It sounds like these would fit the bill. Thank you for this post 😀

  4. Katie says:

Great review! I have liked the majority of ELF products that I have tried but have never seen these. I really like the Tea Rose color – it reminds me of a more expensive one I have tried from NARS.

  5. Vittoria says:

honestly i’m not surprised..elf has great quality and the prices can’t be beat! i adore their eye primer!

  6. maša says:
