This review covers Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature Lipsticks in Flare and Atomic. Flare is a bright orange color; Atomic is a fuchsia violet color.
Please see this post for additional photos and swatches.
These lipsticks come in pinched rectangular tubes. The one negative is that, even twisted all the way down, the lipstick sticks out of the inner tube, making it easier to nick.
Flare is a completely matte color while Atomic has a violet sheen to it. Both these colors are extremely pigmented and opaque.
They are a little stiff and drag slightly on application. But they aren’t drying on the lips (though, by the same token, they don’t moisturize them).
The quality is superb. The colors are bold. Overall, these are outstanding lipsticks.
Ease of Use: 8.75/10
These lipsticks don’t have the creamiest formulation, so there is slight drag on application. By nature of the colors being so bold and bright, you do also need to be careful with how you apply them. I’d suggest using a lip or angled eye liner brush to get a defined line.
You get 4 g for £15.50 (approximately $24.99). For comparison, MAC’s lipsticks are $14.50 and 3 g each. That comes out to $6.25/g for Illamasqua and $4.83/g for MAC. It’s definitely a big price to pay for these lipsticks, but they are very high quality and have unbeatable pigmentation.
Try if: you’re willing to spend the money and want to try out bold colors
Buy if: you want bold, opaque lipsticks
