Availability: Lit Cosmetics Online
Lit Cosmetics specializes in glitter eye makeup. On their online store, you can buy individual colors or Lit Kits.
The kit reviewed here contains 3 glitter colors (Pretty in Pink, Twisted Sistah, and Beach Baby), 2 brushes (Liner brush and Round Brush), a Spark-L Duster, and Clearly Liquid Glitter Base. The kit items come in a tote bag.
The glitters come in clear, square, plastic jars with twist-off lids that you can stack. The kits provide you an extra lid so that you can carry jars individually too.
The Clearly Liquid Glitter Base comes in a rectangular, glass jar with a good-sized opening for you to dip brushes in. Because it is made of glass, the jar is fairly heavy.
Pretty in Pink is a raspberry pink. Twisted Sistah is a medium grape purple. Beach Baby is an antique gold. All of the colors are strong, vibrant and, of course, very sparkly.
The Clearly Liquid Glitter Base has the texture of water instead of, as you may expect, glue or gel. Despite feeling just like water, it makes the glitter adhere to the skin perfectly. I saw little-to-no fallout when applying the glitter. In fact, I didn’t even have to use the duster to get rid of any glitter. It stays put.
You will feel a tightness from the glitter after it dries. It doesn’t feel anything like eye shadow or pigment.
The brushes work hand-in-hand with the glitters. The Liner Brush is very, very thin and is best suited for detailed application. The Rounded Brush is also very small and suitable for thin lines.
The Spark-L Duster is basically mesh material wrapped around some cotton-like material. It’s scratchy on the skin, which doesn’t feel pleasant, but is effective for removing glitter.
Ease of Use: 8.75/10
I initially thought this would apply the way a foiled pigment would. But the glitters do not glide onto the skin, so dragging the brush won’t work. After dipping your brush into the liquid and then into the glitter, you need to pat the brush onto the skin, then re-dip and re-pat until you’ve covered the area you desire.
It will also take time and patience to remove the glitter because it sticks to the skin and likes to travel everywhere.
$68.95 seems expensive. But you get 3 eye products, 2 brushes, and a liquid base, plus some other goodies in the kit. Given the number and quality of products included, this is a good deal. Plus, if you bought each eye glitter individually, you’d pay almost $13 for each. With the kit, you save $27 overall.
