This review covers the 5 pigments from MAC’s Fall Colour Collection.
- Emerald Dusk: Deep yellow blue with white pearl (Limited Edition)
- Blue Storm: Rich metallic blue (Limited Edition, Repromote)
- Starless Night: Deep black purple with light purple pearl (Limited Edition)
- Neo-Orange (matte): Intense neon salmon (Permanent at PRO)
- Magenta Madness (matte): Intense neon blue pink (Permanent at PRO)
Pigments come in plastic jars with twist-off tops.
Both the dark, shimmery colors and neon-bright colors have great pigmentation and apply smoothly.
Make sure you read the labels for each pigment to see what use they are appropriate for. Some colors are not appropriate for the lips or eyes.
Ease of Use: 9.25/10
You can use all these colors dry and foil the dark colors for greater vibrancy. Mind the fall-out, which is inevitable with loose shadows.
MAC pigments are regularly $20.00 and contain 4.5 g.
The reason I cannot give these products a higher score on price is because of how much product you used to get for the $20.00 you’d spend. Over a year ago, MAC pigment sizes were reduced by almost half. This would have been fine (most customers would never have used up a whole jar of pigment anyway) except that MAC chose to not proportionately (or even disproportionately) reduce the price to reflect the change in size. So, now, you are getting half the amount of product but still have to pay the same amount of money.
There really is no good justification for doing this. If you give the consumer less, you should charge them less. So, despite the fact that I think these are great items, I have to deduct points in the pricing category.
Plus, MAC has now increased the price from $19.50 to $20.00!
