This review covers the 4 MAC Flighty Zoom Lash Coloured Mascaras in High Esteem, Blue Charge, Plum Reserve, Green is Green.
- High Esteem: mid-tone grey with silver pearl
- Blue Charge: deep navy blue
- Plum Reserve: light violet purple
- Green is Green: jade green
Please see this post for more photos of the Zoom Lash coloured mascaras.
These mascaras come in matte plastic tubes and have triangular-shaped applicators with short, synthetic bristles.
On the lashes, High Esteem shows up as a medium grey without shimmers. Blue Charge is a bright indigo blue, Plum Reserve is a medium violet purple, and Green is Green is a bright green color.
All of these mascaras have impressive pigmentation. Many “colored” mascaras don’t translate well onto the lashes, but these colors show up distinctly.
The formulation is also very good. It’s on the slightly watery side, but isn’t too watery or dry. You won’t get any amazing volume or length from the mascara, but you’re probably buying the mascara for the color anyway, not for volume or length.
Ease of Use: 9/10
When I swatched these colors on my arm, I noticed that the bristles are extremely scratchy. Since the bristles are short, I was afraid this would make for scratchy application. But this wasn’t the case–application was fine and the bristles didn’t scratch my lids.
These are 8g and $14.00 each. This actually is a really decent price for a high-end mascara, considering may drugstore mascaras are in the $10-range. Added to the fact that colored mascaras are hard to come by, this is a good price.
Buy if: you want a pop of color and aren’t looking for dramatic volume or length
