Lipstick in shades reflecting Pugh’s trademark drama. His impeccable high style is evoked by the lipstick’s glossy black square casing and signature marque.
The Gareth Pugh collection comes with 2 Lipsticks in the colors “Restrict” and “Fervent”:
- Restrict (cremesheen): Creamy grayed nude
- Fervent (satin): Glossy blackened berry
Gareth Pugh Lipsticks come in rectangular, shiny black tubes. The caps have embossed “X” designs on the top.
Restrict is a pale, greyish nude pink with a sheen finish. Fervent is a deep wine purple, also with a satin finish. Because Restrict is pale, it can easily wash you out if you over-apply it. Restrict, as you can see, is a very dark color that is almost opaque.
Both have decent color. Both have a slightly stiff formula, and you need to swipe and blot to build up and even out the finish.
Ease of Use: 8.75/10
You need to work with both colors to get an even layer of color, but they transfer onto the skin without too much trouble. Both colors will show mistakes in application, so I would recommend using a lip brush to get a precise line.
Each tube contains 3 grams of product for $22. MAC lipsticks usually cost $14.50 and contain the same amount of lipstick. You do pay a lot more for the same amount of product, but this is expected with MAC’s special collaboration collections. And this is the only product so far that isn’t 2, 3, or 4 times as much money for less product than its counterpart in MAC’s regular line.
