MAC’s Glitter & Ice collection includes 6 limited-edition Technakohl Eye Liners:
- Silver Skates: Silver with pearl
- Going for Gold: Gold with pearl
- Seasonally Spicy: Brown with pearl
- Fancy Moves: Purple with pearl
- Practice Makes Perfect: Blue with pearl
- Smooth Manoeuvre: Black with pearl
These are plastic pencil liners with twist-up applicators. The packaging in this collection is white.
I have noticed over time that this packaging isn’t a sturdy as other MAC packaging. The applicators wiggle around and seem flimsy.
These liners were a little disappointing. Silver Skates and Going for Gold don’t have the vibrancy I expected a silver and gold liner to have. Silver Skates also needs many layers to show up. The other colors are fairly good and all of the colors have subtle shimmers. Practically speaking, you likely won’t see the shimmers since you’ll only be applying a thin line to the lid.
There’s nothing particularly terrible about these liners, but the formula just isn’t that soft and the colors aren’t as vibrant as I hoped they’d be.
Ease of Use: 8.25/10
You’ll need to layer plenty when it comes to Silver Skates and Going for Gold; the other colors need fewer swipes (though Practice Makes Perfect requires more layering). Other MAC kohl liners apply more smoothly and effortlessly than these.
You get 0.35 g for $16.00 compared to $15.00 for regular MAC Technakohl liners. It bothers me when MAC charges extra money for special packaging. Unless it’s packaging that requires the company to pay copyright/licensing fees (like with Wonder Woman or Venomous Villains), that extra money for going from white to black packaging just feels like squeezing the customers’ pockets.
