Company’s Description – Tinted Lipglass
A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.
MAC’s Lightfully Bright collection features 4 limited-edition tinted lipglasses. These items are available only online for U.S. and Canadian customers, but are available at MAC stores in Asia.
These come in standard MAC lipglass packaging. The tubes are clear plastic, making them light for traveling with and allowing you to see the color in the tube. The wands have a doe-foot applicator.
These are sheer, very shimmery lip glosses. Like the other tinted lipglasses in MAC’s permanent line, these Lightfully Bright glosses aren’t noticeably sticky and go on smoothly.
The colors from this collection are quite unique. They look beautiful in the tube and also look very sparkly on the lips. But the glitter particles are fine enough that you don’t feel them. Overall, the effect is very pretty.
You get only a small variation between the colors, though. The changes in color are so subtle that you really don’t need to get more than 1 or 2 of the colors. On the lips, if you look closely, you can tell that Atmospheric has a pink hue and that Ethereal has a blue tint. Even looking closely, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell that Astro Cool has a light lilac hue unless you saw it in the tube first. Outer Space is the easiest color to distinguish because it gives off a noticeable milky-white tint. The sheerness of the colors means you don’t get a lot of variation when they’re used alone, but also means they’re versatile if you want to use them over other lip colors without changing the underlying color.
Lipglasses, in my experience, don’t last as long as other lip glosses–about 2 hours on the lips without drinking or eating.
Ease of Use: 9/10
These are very easy to work with, with the exception of maybe Outer Space, which can be ever-so-slightly difficult to get an even finish out of because of its white tint. For the rest of the colors, the doe-foot applicator gives you a precise application and the colors are so sheer that you can apply them quickly without worrying how accurate you’re being.
One negative about applying lipglasses: I find that I have to dip back into the tube at least 3-4 times because the wand doesn’t retain enough lip gloss when I pull it out of the tube. This inconvenience keeps the Ease of Use score from being 10/10.
For a high-end lip gloss, $14.50 is a good price. Also, these colors are unique, so you’ll get value out of the normal price you’d pay for a MAC tinted lipglass.
These colors are unique and beautiful in the tube. Individually, they are also very pretty on the lips. But because the color variation between the 4 shades is so subtle, you probably only need to get 1 or 2 of them.
