Release Date: August 25, 2011
Availability: MAC online & MAC stores

This review covers MAC’s 2 MAC Me Over Cream Colour Bases.

  • Seaside: Soft peach rose (Limited Edition)
  • Take Root: Rich red brown (Limited Edition)

Packaging: 9/10

These bases come in standard MAC compacts. They are lightweight plastic with see-through lids. The compacts are durable and portable.

Quality: 9.5/10

Seaside is a light, frosty pink with some peach in it and Take Root is a medium brown. Both of these bases are pigmented, glide on smoothly, and aren’t sticky.

Each color is also versatile. Seaside can be used as a highlighter for the brow-bone or cheekbones, as a lip color, as a base for a powder blush, or as an eye shadow base. Take Root can be used as an eye shadow base or cream bronzer/contour color.

Ease of Use: 9.25/10

Application is smooth and you don’t have to layer to get an intense color. Apply with your fingers and blend out with a brush. Set with a powder for all-day wear.

Price: 8.75/10

These are the same size (3.2 g) as regular MAC bases and cost $17.50 each.

Final Grade

92.5/100

One Response to Review & Swatches: MAC Me Over (Part I) Cream Colour Bases

  1. Lisa B. says:

I find these a bit too greasy; I’d rather find something that doesn’t absolutely REQUIRE setting powder. But Take Root is an interesting color. Thanks for the swatches!
