This review covers MAC’s 3 MAC Me Over lipsticks from Part I of the collection.
- Secret Lover (lustre): Pale pink with yellow pearlized pigments (Limited Edition)
- Offshoot (cremesheen): Mid-tone neutral pink (Limited Edition)
- Oh, Oh, Oh (lustre): Plum bronze with pearlized pigments (Limited Edition)
Packaging: 9/10
These lipsticks come in standard MAC packaging. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go.
Quality: 8.5/10
Part I comes with 3 limited edition colors plus Peachstock (which I don’t review here because it’s a long-time permanent color).
The two lustre finish colors–Secret Lover and Oh, Oh, Oh–go on more sheerly than Offshoot, which is a cremesheen finish. Secret Lover is very pale and, despite having a subtle pink color in the tube, comes off as a shimmery, non-opaque white on the lips. Offshoot and Oh, Oh, Oh (not an appealing name, in my opinion) are darker colors more suitable for darker skin tones or nighttime wear.
The formula for all three colors is good–not to stiff or soft. You can get 3-4 hours of wear if you’re not eating or drinking.
Ease of Use: 9.25/10
Application is straight-forward. The formula glides on easily and you can layer to build up each color.
Price: 9/10
These are the same size (0.1 oz) as regular MAC lipsticks and cost $14.50 each.
Secret Lover–gah, more pale lips! I guess it’d be good for layering, but I don’t usually layer my lip stuff, I like just one swipe and go color. I think Oh, Oh, Oh looks nice even if the name is terrible. 😉 You think it’s only good for nighttime though? It doesn’t look too dark in the swatches…I agree Offshoot is a bit dramatic for daytime.
For me, yes. But I can’t say specifically for other people, because it depends on your skin color.
I think you once told me you were about NC20? I am, too, so I figure it will at least be similar on me. 🙂 (That’s why I keep asking you way too many questions! Sorry!)
I’m NC 20-25.
Peachstock is a must have for nude peachy lip!
