Review & Swatches: MAC Semi-Precious Cremesheen Glass

Semi-Precious Cremesheen Glass Glosses

This review covers MAC’s 5 Semi-Precious Cremesheen Glass glosses.

  • Geo Pink: strawberry pink (limited edition)
  • Natural Flare: light caramel nude (limited edition)
  • Pure Magnificence: light grey pink (limited edition)
  • Looks Like Sin: mid-tone reddish plum (limited edition)
  • Richly Revered: deep brown plum (limited edition)

Please see this post for full photos and swatches.

Packaging: 9/10

These glosses come in standard MAC packaging. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go. The glosses have doe-foot applicators.

Quality: 9/10

The formula for these glosses is great because they aren’t tacky and apply smoothly. The pigmentation isn’t strong, but they’re not intended to be. When MAC first came out with this formulation, I was disappointed because the pigmentation was too sheer. With this collection, the pigmentation is still on the light side, but isn’t so sheer that the finish looks uneven.

Geo Pink and Natural Flare have tiny shimmers in them while the other 3 colors have no shimmer.

Ease of Use: 9.5/10

The small doe-foot and formulation make application easy. The light pigmentation also makes precise application unnecessary.

Price: 7.5/10

These are the same size (2.7 g) and price ($18.50) as other Cremesheen glosses. Other MAC glosses, though, contain not only more product but also cost less. For example, MAC Tinted Lipglass glosses contain 4.8 g of product and only cost $14.50 each.

I love MAC’s Lip Glasses, but have never tried Cremesheen Glass. Looks a little too sheer for me. Think I’ll stick with the yearly “Glam” Lip Glasses.

I really like the look of Geo Pink, it seems the most pigmented, though I’m a little wary of the shimmer. They’re not at all gritty, are they?
I really really love the nonsticky texture of Cremesheen Glasses! I know they’re pricey for what you get, but I have to admit I love them anyway (I try to be sensible about makeup, I really do!)…I’ve indulged myself and bought a few. I also like MAC’s vanilla scent for lip products (even though I also know that fragrance in cosmetics isn’t really a good thing…but at least it’s a nice smell instead of Chanel and Estee Lauder’s strong floral aroma). I do wish they’d re-release some more of the other shades (my favorite, Creme Anglaise, is actually fairly pigmented and doesn’t have shimmer).
I think you have the arm swatch picture mislabeled, one of them should be Looks Like Sin (the 2nd “Pure Magnificence” probably?). I think the previous release of Looks Like Sin was more pigmented; it actually made me look a bit vampy when I wore it (so I got rid of it).
