Review & Swatches: MAC Surf Baby PowerPoint Eye Pencils

Surf Baby PowerPoint Eye Pencil

This review covers MAC’s 2 Surf, Baby! PowerPoint Eye Pencils.

  • Blue Moon: teal with gold pearl
  • Gilded White: yellow white frost

Please see this post for full photos of these powders.

Packaging: 9.25/10

Like all MAC PowerPoint pencils, these come in pencil form without sharpeners. These eye pencils are also designed with the Surf Baby limited-edition packaging.

Quality: 8.5/10

Blue Moon is a light, shimmery teal color. Gilded White is a shimmery, yellow-toned white color.

The pigmentation for both these colors is decent. But the pencils themselves could be softer. Instead of applying smoothly, they skip across the skin and, therefore, require you to apply several layers. I suspect the formulation is this way, in part, because the pencils are supposed to be waterproof. The staying power is decent, but definitely not waterproof.

Ease of Use: 8.25/10

Because the formulation isn’t softer, the pencils skip across the skin. You’ll probably have to go over the line several times to get a continuous line.

Price: 8.25/10

These are 1.2 g and cost $15.50 each. Normally, MAC liners are $14.50 each, but MAC has bumped up the price on these because of the limited-edition packaging.

Gilded white looks like bare study! I had eyeliners that skip though, and if its not completely waterproof I don’t think I’ll be picking this up.

The colours are gorgeous though, too bad.

Well…the water and smudge-resistance are definitely really nice features (I REALLY love your testing in the video, btw!) but the skippiness is REALLY annoying. Do you know of some smoother/non-skipping ones to suggest that still have that smudge and water resistance?
