Review: MAC Surf Baby Studio Careblend Powders

Studio Careblend in Gold-go-Lightly

This review covers MAC’s 2 Surf, Baby! Studio Careblend Pressed Powders.

  • Gold-Go-Lightly: mid tone golden tan brown (limited edition)
  • Lush-Light Bronze: mid tone rosy pink brown (limited edition)

Please see this post for full photos of these powders.

Packaging: 9.5/10

These powders come in standard MAC packaging except with a limited-edition outer design. These plastic compacts have a flip-up, snap-shut lid and can easily be taken on-the-go.

The pan itself is also pressed with a design that repeats the MAC logo.

Quality: 9.5/10

The Careblend formula is very smooth and soft. On top of this, these powders have great pigmentation.

Lush-Light Bronze is a darker and more rosy bronzing color than Gold-Go-Lightly. Both have matte finishes.

You can use these powders (with a light hand) for overall bronzing or more targeted contouring.

Ease of Use: 9.25/10

The soft formulation means your brush easily picks up this powder. This plus the powder’s strong pigmentation means you should use a large fluffy brush and light hand if you want an all-over bronzing effect. You could also use a denser brush for contouring.

Both colors go on easily and smoothly.

Price: 9.25/10

This blush is $28.00 and contains 9.5 g of product. The cheek powder in My Paradise is the same price and gives you 9 g of product.

Awesome!!! There isn’t any shimmer in the product. I love matte products when it comes to blush and bronzer. I only like shimmer in eyeshadows.

I like the matte finish, but I have to be really careful with applying it, in my opinion. Beautiful, though and great for contouring.

Yay matte finish! Do you like Lush-Light or Gold-Go-Lightly better? I think I like Gold-Go-Lightly since it’s less reddish–though I guess the redness is a little more like real bronzing from the sun. :-p
