This review covers MAC’s 3 Surf, Baby! Suntint SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balms.
- Lilt of Lily: soft creamy pale pink (limited edition)
- Pink Tinge: clean bright yellow pink (limited edition)
- Full of Grace: soft sheer rose (limited edition)
Please see this post for full photos of these lip glosses.
These lip balms come in plastic squeeze-tubes displaying the limited-edition Surf, Baby! design. They also come with slanted applicators.
These balms give almost no color to the lips and you practically can’t tell the difference between the 3 colors once they are applied. Normally, this would be a big strike against the product. But since these are specifically marketed as soft-tinted balms, the lack of color is to be expected.
Two things make Suntints great: (1) they have absolutely no stickiness to them and (2) they provide sun protection to your lips. It’s nice to have a lip product that doesn’t feel tacky. More importantly, you should always protect your skin (including the skin on your lips) from sun damage. Though this is true every day (rain or shine), it’s especially true during the Summer, when you’re more likely to be outside while it’s sunny. An SPF of 20 is great for everyday sun protection.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
These balms are super smooth and are easy to apply because their lack of color makes precise application unnecessary.
Suntints contain 0.34 fl oz of product and cost $15.50 each. MAC Lip Conditioners give you 0.5 fl oz and cost $14.50 each. The extra dollar is likely from the limited-edition packaging. Still, you’re getting less product than you would with a normal lip conditioner.
