Here is the last of the MAC Wonder Woman reviews!
MAC’s Wonder Woman collection includes 2 nail polishes. Obey Me is a true red and Spirit of Truth is a dark blue.
Please Note: For the purpose of scoring, I am not including a judgment on the aesthetics of the packaging. Whether you like the packaging or not is a completely subjective preference. Particularly given the strong divide in opinion over this collection’s packaging, I don’t feel it’s appropriate to comment on it in the review. But feel free to express your opinion on the packaging in the comments!
These products come in a red box that slides out from an outer sleeve decorated with Wonder Woman comic art. The inside of the boxes are blue with white stars.
The bottles are glass and have red rubber tops. The top can get a little dirty because it is made of rubber, but this is a very minor negative. The brush is made of plastic bristles.
Both of these nail polishes apply well. You will need 2 layers of Obey Me if you want a completely opaque look. With just 1 layer, Spirit of Truth gives you an opaque finish. These colors should last you at least 3 days if you have a good topcoat.
Ease of Use: 8.5/10
The brush is a standard nail polish brush, so the application you get is like what you’d get with most other polishes. Because the colors are bold, you do need to be precise with your application or spend some time cleaning up with remover and a q-tip. But you won’t need to spend a lot of time putting on 3-4 coats because the colors are pretty opaque.
I took off half a point because it’s difficult to remove this nail polish. The colors are so strong that even when using a 100% acetone remover, I had bits of polish around my cuticles and under my nails for about a day after I removed the color. Just be prepared to really scrub hard or to have to wait a day with slightly stained nails.
These are the same size as regular MAC nail polishes but cost a dollar more ($15) because of the special packaging. I really feel like $15 is too much to pay for one nail polish. Even high-end nail polish companies like OPI, China Glaze, and Essie don’t charge that much for their nail polishes. Bottom line, $15 a bottle is too much.
These are quality nail polishes, but the $15 price-tag prevents them from getting an A rating.
Try if: you don’t want to apply multiple coats
Buy if: you’re ok with the price and want an opaque finish
