Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Eye Shadows
Availability: Drugstores
Price: $7-8
Maybelline recently released a new set of cream eye products called Color Tattoo 24 Hr Eyeshadows. They come in a total of 10 shades, all of which are reviewed, below.
Packaging: 9.5/10
These shadows come in glass jars with plastic, twist-off lids. The lids shut tightly to keep the product from drying out.
Quality: 9.25/10
I’m very impressed by the quality of these cream shadows.
The consistency is smooth and soft to the touch, gliding easily onto the skin. The product sets to a dry finish soon after application.
The natural and dark colors all had good pigmentation and color payoff. Edgy Emerald and Painted Purple had the weakest color payoff, going on more sheer than the rest. But you can layer any of the 10 colors to get a more vibrant and opaque finish.
The most impressive part about these shadows is their longevity. Because they set to such a dry finish, they resist smudging, fading, and creasing. I went all day (about 6 hours) without seeing these colors crease and I used them without a primer. These definitely outlast most, if not all, of the Paint Pots that I own. Lately, my lids have been fairly dry (I usually have combination skin), so if you have more oily lids, you’ll probably see more/earlier creasing than I experienced.
I would caution those with very dry skin–because they quickly become dry, the Color Tattoo shadows may highlight wrinkles or exacerbate the appearance of dry skin.
Ease of Use: 9.25/10
Because the formula starts off creamy and smooth, the product glides easily over the skin. They do dry quickly, so you need to work fast to blend out the colors. And they adhere so well to the skin that it takes a while to remove them.
Price: 9.5/10
For under $8.00, you get 4 grams of shadow. MAC Paint Pots contain 5 grams of shadow and cost $17.50, while Metal-X Cream Shadows cost $20.00 and contain 2.4 grams.

Hey Allura! I love your YouTube and blog! I find all your YouTube videos so helpful! I was wondering what your personal favorite Maybelline cream shadow is. I am getting back into cream shadows and I want to know which one from this line to start my collection with. Please comment back and tell me your favorite! Great blogpost! Keep up the great work!
Hi Dani! I like Bad to the Bronze.
I am utterly in love with these cream shadows. Before these, I used the NYX Jumbo Pencils. I had problems with those although they worked well. I could never resharpen them! These cream shadows last even longer as bases (in my opinion) and have such great color pay off. I’m in love with the fall line and I cannot wait to slowly but surely collect all of the colors.
Because of these cream shadows, I’ve been experimenting with more and more color in my makeup although I am a neutral kinda gal. Great blog!
Thanks!
Thanks for the swatches,I went to my local CVS and picked up 3 of the colors. Audacious Asphalt,Tenacious Teal and Bad to the bronze. I wore Audacious Asphalt today with In the Sun MES – MAC and I really like it. The colors do last! I am going to pick up 2 more colors. (tough as taupe and bold gold) Thanks again for the swatches. They are the best!
Glad they worked out for you!
I’m really excited to go check these Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Eye Shadows out because not only are they great quality, but also comparable to MAC paint pots!! I love tough as taupe, born to be bronze and pomegranate as punk!! They look gorgeous!!
Sarah(:
Great swatches, I can’t wait until these show up in my area stores
Pomegranate Punk and Audacious Asphalt are my favorites! I was originally going to get one to try as a base for other shadows, but after seeing your swatches, they’ll work great as a shadow, too!
I’ve heard these also compare favorably with Bobbi Brown Long-Wears (which I guess shows in your grades, too!) and MUFE Aqua Creams. I’m just waiting for them to show up in my drugstores so I can pounce on them.
Thanks for the swatches! I’m excited to learn that these wear better than paint pots. I wonder if they are limited edition? It would be so cool if they were perm because I like all the colors and wish I could take my time collecting them. Great review!
No, they’re not limited edition.
