Review & Swatches: Revlon Diamond Dust Eye Shadow in Plum Galaxy

Revlon Diamond Dust Eye Shadow in Plum Galaxy

Availability: Drugstores, Target, WalMart, Ulta
Price: $4.99

Revlon’s Diamond Dust Eye Shadow line contains several colors, one of which is “Plum Galaxy.” This is a medium purple color with blue, purple, pink, and silver glitters throughout.

Packaging: 9.25/10

This shadow comes in a plastic compact with a flip-up, snap-shut top. It is very lightweight.

Quality: 7.25/10

When applied dry, Plum Galaxy is a weakly-pigmented, dusty purple with a low-shimmer finish. The color isn’t vibrant and the finish isn’t opaque.

The color fares better when it’s applied wet. The purple is more vibrant, the finish is more dense, and you can tell that the powder has multicolored glitters in it. But the effect fades quickly (as the shadow dries), so the improvement is temporary.

Ease of Use: 8/10

You have to apply this color wet to get the effect you see in the pan. You also have to use a primer and base if you want to extend the life of the foiled effect.

Price: 9/10

You get 2.4 g for approximately $5.00 (the price will vary depending on the store).

Final Grade

79.5/100

Before seeing the swatch I was sure it was going to be veeery sparkling.
    It looks nice.

The picture first and 2nd pics show flashes of blue sparkle…especially the 2nd one, with the lid closed–that ONE picture looks stunning! Unfortunately the others are much less lovely…too bad the blue sparkle doesn’t come out much, even in the wet swatch. Well, I guess there are a couple of blue flashes in there…I MIGHT have to try it…though I’ll probably hold out for something better. :-p Thanks for the review!

  3. I hope the luster shows with a primer. It is indeed a beautiful color!

Beautiful color, but only when its used with a damp brush… love it
