Review & Swatches: MAC Naturally Tinted Lipglasses

MAC Naturally Tinted Lipglasses

Availability: MAC Stores & Online
Release Date: January 5, 2012

Company’s Description

A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.

This review is for the 2 new Tinted Lipglasses releasing with MAC’s upcoming Naturally Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:

  • Fresh Air: Light pink
  • Hot Spell: Bronze with multi-colored pearl

The Wee Coquette and Naked Space are also included in this collection, but are not a new colors. If you would like to see swatches, pictures, and a review of The Wee Coquette (from the MAC Me Over Collection), please see this post.

Packaging: 9/10

These come in standard MAC lipglass packaging. The tubes are clear plastic, making them light for traveling with and allowing you to see the color in the tube. The wands have a doe-foot applicator.

Quality: 9/10

Fresh Air is an extremely pale pink that is almost clear on the lips. It contains tons of tiny silver and gold pearls.

Hot Spell is a brick-based brown that also has silver and gold pearls.

These are sheer, shimmery lip products that are less opaque than other MAC lipglosses.

The formula glides on without dragging. The consistency is about as sticky as normal Lipglasses (which have a medium-level of tackiness).

Tinted Lipglasses, in my experience, don’t last as long as other lip glosses–about 2 hours on the lips without drinking or eating.

Ease of Use: 9/10

These are very easy to work with because the doe-foot applicator gives you a precise application and the colors are so sheer that you can apply them quickly without worrying how accurate you’re being.

One negative about applying lipglasses: I find that I have to dip back into the tube at least 3-4 times because the wand doesn’t retain enough lip gloss when I pull it out of the tube.

Price: 9/10

These are the same size (4.8 grams) as regular MAC Tinted Lipglasses and the same price ($14.50).

I thought the same thing, they both look wonderful!

I thought Hot Spell looked way too brown in the arm swatch, but then I saw it on lips, and it isn’t at all!
