This review covers Tarte’s new True Blood palette. This palette is available at Sephora and tartecosmetics.com for $52.
Get glamoured with this limited-edition palette packed with 17 killer new eyeshadows and more. Each richly pigmented shadow is softly milled and infused with Amazonian clay for pure color payoff, silky application and long wear. From ethereal goddess to vampy vixen, you can create countless looks using these shimmering, matte and smoky shades. Open after dark: buried in a pullout drawer is a full-size emphasEYES™ aqua-gel eyeliner in black, a deluxe lights, camera, lashes! clinically-proven natural mascara and a deluxe lifted™ natural eye primer with Firmitol™ to help you complete your look.
This palette is approximately the size of a small hardcover textbook. The top layer flips up to reveal the eye shadows and a mirror. The lower layer has a drawer that contains Tarte’s Emphaseyes eyeliner, a mini-sized mascara, and a mini-sized shadow primer.
The eye shadow pans are arranged so that they are flush with each other. Although interesting in design, the arrangement risks the colors bleeding into each other when you drag your brush across the pan.
The formulation for these shadows is great. The powder is soft and smooth, applies evenly, and has very good pigmentation.
The palette is also great because you get a mixture of matte, sheen-finish, and glittery colors.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
These colors go on evenly and smoothly. Use a primer underneath to make the colors last and resist against creasing.
In a vacuum, $52.00 is a lot to pay. But you get 17 full-sized eye shadows, 1 full-sized eye liner, 1 mini primer, and 1 mini mascara.
Individual Tarte eye shadows are $17.00 each; MAC eye shadows are $14.50 each. Either way, 17 shadows for $52.00 (not even considering the extra items in the palette) is a great deal.
