Wet n Wild has created 3 new, limited-edition baked eye shadow palettes to the Color Icon line for the holiday 2011 season. Each palette contains 6 eye shadows and a mini eye pencil. This review is for the blue palette “Bake-Off Contest!”.
You can read the review for the brown palette “Baked, Not Fried” here. Stay tuned for a review on the pink palette!
This palette comes in a plastic compact with a clear, slide-off top. I wish the top would snap together somehow with the palette to make it more secure.
These are baked shadows that can be used wet or dry. Applied dry, they each go on with good pigmentation and smooth finishes. The least impressive of the 6 is the white color.
Strangely, when applied wet, the 2 medium-blue colors colors actually dilute a little (swathed 3rd and 5th, below). The color and shine intensifies almost imperceptibly for the rest of the colors.
The palette contains both light and dark colors, which makes this a good palette to use for a full eye look. The only negative is that all the colors have frosty finishes, so you don’t have a choice of matte colors to balance out the shimmer.
The silver eye pencil applies alright. It isn’t very soft, but glides on well enough.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
These shadows aren’t as soft as the shadows in the 8-pan Color Icon palettes. But, they can be used both wet and dry and also have less fallout.
You get 6 solid-quality baked shadows for $5–quite a steal.
