Review & Swatches: Wet n Wild Color Icon “Baked, Not Fried” (Browns) Eye Shadow Palette

Color Icon “Baked, Not Fried” (Browns) Eye Shadow Palette

Limited Edition
Availability: Walgreens
Price: $4.99

Wet n Wild has created 3 new, limited-edition baked eye shadow palettes to the Color Icon line for the holiday 2011 season. Each palette contains 6 eye shadows and a mini eye pencil. This review is for the brown palette “Baked, Not Fried.”

You can read the review for the blue palette “Bake-Off Contest!” here.

Packaging: 8.75/10

This palette comes in a plastic compact with a clear, slide-off top. I wish the top would snap together somehow with the palette to make it more secure.

Quality: 9.25/10

These are baked shadows that can be used wet or dry. Applied dry, they each go on with good pigmentation and smooth finishes. The color and shine intensifies just a little when you apply them wet.

The palette contains both light and dark colors and both warm- and cool-toned browns, which makes this a good palette to use for a full eye look. The only negative is that all the colors have frosty finishes, so you don’t have a choice of matte colors to balance out the shimmer.

The eye pencil works well enough and it’s a pretty brown color with gold shimmers in it. It’s not very soft, but glides on alright despite being a stiffer formula.

Ease of Use: 9.5/10

These shadows aren’t as soft as the shadows in the 8-pan Color Icon palettes. But, they can be used both wet and dry and also have less fallout.

Price: 10/10

You get 6 solid-quality baked shadows for $5–quite a steal.

Bah! All of the new Wet n Wild stuff is only available at Walgreens! I work at CVS, and was hoping to use my employee discount, but I might have to “cheat” and skip on over to Walgreens!

Ooh…I was kinda anticipating disappointing baked shadows (like Revlon’s Baked blushes, those were kinda disappointing and powdery for me) but these look niiice! 4th from the left is really pretty!
I’m very VERY impressed by the dry application! Not really much different than wet!
