Company’s Description

Heat up your look with the limited edition Precious Smoky Kit!

Composed of 2 of this season’s must-have looks: Precious Smoky Brown for a warm, ultra-shimmery look and Smoky Khaki for a dark, smoldering look.

This is the small, yet essential trendy makeup kit to offer or treat yourself to this winter.

As one of two eye shadow palettes released with Yves Rocher’s holiday collection, the Precious Smoky Kit contains 4 eye shadows and 2 mini eye pencils. The shadows can be divided up into duos to allow you 2 different looks.

Packaging: 8.75/10

This palette comes in a cardboard box that opens up like a book and stays shut via a magnet. There is a small mirror on the inside and a double-ended sponge applicator. There is also an insert showing 2 different eye looks included.

The palette is a little bulky for traveling, being 1.5 inches thick, but is at least lightweight.

Quality: 8.5/10

Four colors are included in this palette. In the left column, there is a chocolate brown with gold shimmers and a champagne. In the right column, you get a forest green with silver shimmers and a pale, yellow-based gold.

These shadows have average pigmentation. The 2 shadows in the right column lack a certain vibrancy. But all 4 colors are decently smooth.

The 2 eye pencils are surprisingly pigmented and have extremely soft formulations that transfer onto the skin easily. You get a very dark forest green color that appears more like an off-black on the skin and a deep chocolate brown.

Ease of Use: 8.5/10

These shadows are soft enough to glide easily onto the skin. You will need to layer the colors to even out the finishes and improve the pay-off. The liners glide on nicely to the skin without need for layering.

Price: 9/10

You get 4 shadows and 2 mini pencils for $16.00, averaging out to a little more than $2.50 for each item.

Final Grade

86.25/100

the eye liners really look good

  2. Latisha says:

The pigments look nice, but they don’t really have that wow factor. The casing on the outside looks nice though

  3. Lisa B. says:

Doesn’t seem too special to me either…it looks like there would have been plenty of room for a nice brush though! I don’t hate sponge-tips, it just would have been a nice touch.

  4. Average pigmentation… Uhm no thanks! I’d rather settle for a separate eyeliners.

  5. Jennifer says:

I have a very similar palette (Smoky Night And Day) and the brown and champagne color eyeshadow are exactly the same. :( I’m going to buy a new palette just for 2 “new colors”, especially since they aren’t that special.

But I have to admit that the brown and the champagne eyeshadow are two of my top favorite shadows EVER! The color is very smooth and they are classy. :)

Thank you for this review! I was really looking forward to it! Too bad the product itself doesn’t impress me. :/

It looks ok but not really that special.. love that light bronzy shade though :D
