Company’s Description

John Frieda Frizz Ease Sheer Solution is lightweight frizz control for fine to medium hair. Fights frizz without weighing hair down, leaving hair light and manageable whether you style straight or curly.

John Frieda’s Sheer Solution is said to reduce frizz for fine-to-medium hair without weighing it down. See below for photos and my thoughts!

Sheer Solution comes in a cylindrical, plastic bottle with a small opening out of which the product drips. You get very small drops of the product, which makes it easy to control how much you dispense.

I really like this product. I have a bathroom full of different serums, silicone-based products, and creams that claim to control frizz, and very few of them do. I was surprised at how smooth this product made my hair. The smoothing effect was noticeable and lasted until I next washed my hair.

I have fine hair that frizzes quite easily, especially when exposed to any degree of heat while it’s still wet or damp (like from the heat of the bathroom post-shower). Because it’s fine, it’s also very easy to make it look limp and weighed-down if I use product on it. This is part of the reason I almost never put anything in my hair (besides the fact that I’m not big on hair styling for everyday).

This product doesn’t weigh down my hair at all. It’s a duo-phase product, meaning it has a water-based portion and an oil-based portion. You can see them divided in the bottle in the photos. You shake the bottle to mix, then dispense about 10 drops into your palm and distribute through damp hair.

What I don’t like is the presence of alcohol in the product. I was surprised to see it on the ingredients list because I didn’t feel it at all when testing the product (my hair didn’t feel the least bit dry or crunchy). I don’t know if it helps with frizz control, but in any case I’d prefer the product didn’t have alcohol in it.

The product has a very pleasant scent. The fragrance isn’t strong, which will disappoint some who prefer the smell to linger in their locks, but will be assuring for those who are sensitive to scents.
