Review & Swatches: Benefit Blush in “Bella Bamba”

Benefit Blush in Bella Bamba

Availability: Sephora, ULTA, Benefit
Price: $28.00

Company’s Description

This boxed blush, with a mirror tucked inside a magnetic closure flip-top lid, amplifies cheekbones and creates the illusion of sculpted features for a gorgeous 3D effect. Your face will look instantly brighter with just a quick swipe of this ultra-flattering color on the cheeks.

Benefit’s array of boxed blushes come in a total of 8 colors. The company describes Bella Bamba as a watermelon pink with shimmering gold undertones. See below for a full review, photos, and swatches of this color!

Packaging: 8.75/10

The box packaging is made of thick cardboard and is decorated with a bright, holographic design. Unlike Benefit’s other boxed blushes, the lid for this packaging doesn’t detach–it is connected to the box on one side. Under the lid is less-than-full-sized mirror. A fairly high-quality, flat, domed brush is also included.

Quality: 8.75/10

Touted as a “3D” blush, Bella Bamba is certainly jam-packed with shimmer. The formula for the powder is smooth, but the large amount of glitter makes it a bit dusty, so you will get fall-out from the silver shimmer particles.

The base color is a pinky-peach watermelon with great pigmentation. It blends smoothly over the skin and leaves a consistent, even, shimmery finish.

My gripe about this product is the sweet smell. Just like with Hervana, Benefit has added a sweet fragrance to Bella Bamba. Not only should you not be applying fragranced products on your skin (fragrances cause irritation), but this product goes on your cheeks… Why make it smell? This is a great blush that doesn’t need the gimmicky addition of a scent.

Ease of Use: 8.75/10

I find this blush easy to blend over the cheeks, but I do have to watch out for fall-out and remove silver particles with a clean brush after application.

Price: 9/10

For $28.00 you get 0.28 ounces of product. This is the same price as all of Benefit’s other boxed blushes and is very close to the price-to-amount ratio of blushes from similar companies like Bare Escentuals and Tarte.
