CoverGirl’s newest lipstick comes with two colors that you can mix and match. The Blast Flipstick Lipcolor Blendable Lip Duos come in 13 shades. This review is for the shade in Stunner–the color Sofia Vergara is wearing in the CoverGirl ads.
This product comes in a plastic tube with one lipstick color in each end.
The duo Stunner has a gold and red lipstick included. The gold consists of gold shimmers without an underlying gold color. The glitter is slightly chunky. The red is a vibrant orange-red that stains the lips somewhat.
The formula is a bit stiff and lacks the creaminess that makes better lipsticks pleasant to work with. This product won’t moisturize your lips, but won’t dry them out either. The dry formula makes the red color apply unevenly and doesn’t foster the blending of the 2 colors together.
I get average wear from this lipstick–about 2-3 hours before fading.
Ease of Use: 7.25/10
Because the formula isn’t creamy, the color (particularly the red) skips, forcing you to pass the lipstick over the skin several times.
The colors in Stunner also didn’t work well together. Applying the gold over the red doesn’t work well because the gold doesn’t show up over the strong red. I also tried applying the gold to the center of the lips while they were bare, and then blending the red into the gold. This makes the gold show up better, but it’s difficult to blend the two colors seemlessly. Overall, I just don’t think the colors work well together.
For $8.99 you get 3.8 grams (0.134 ounces) of lipstick. This is on the slightly expensive side for the amount of product you get.
