Company’s Description

The silky and blendable formula of our Baked Eyeshadow provides smooth and even application with each sweep of color. Baked in an oven, these eyeshadows offer rich pigmentation for a beautiful effect. Infused with active key ingredients Jojoba, Rose, Sunflower, Apricot and Grape to nourish and hydrate the skin. The long-lasting and shimmering color can be worn wet for a vibrant effect or dry for sheer pigmentation, offering a variety of gorgeous eye looks!

e.l.f.’s new Baked Eyeshadows are part of the company’s Studio line and currently come in 6 different shades. This review is for the shade Pixie–a pale, dusty pink.

Packaging: 8.75/10

These shadows come in round compacts with snap-shut, see-through, plastic lids. The packaging is slightly flimsy, but I haven’t have any problems yet with it breaking down.

Quality: 7/10

Pixie is a pale pink color that gives off slight shimmer. The color is fainter than I’d prefer, which is party due to the kind of color it is but is also due to the color’s lack of pigmentation. Applying the shadow wet doesn’t help much and also makes the finish more uneven.

The formula is actually on the stiff side as far as baked products go. The shadow fades in patches through the blending process, leaving the shadow uneven.

Worn without primer underneath, the shadow creased after 3 hours. With primer underneath, the shadow lasted 5 hours before creasing.

Overall, I’m very underwhelmed by this product. The color does not stand out and the formula doesn’t hold up as well as I’d expect through blending.

Ease of Use: 8.5/10

I felt like I needed to add a lot of layers of Pixie to even make it noticeable on the lid. Blending the shade also requires some subsequent layering to bring back evenness and the color.

Price: 9.25/10

For $3.00, you get 3.5 grams (0.12 ounces) of product. This is a great price for the amount of shadow you get, but when you actually compare the amount of product you get in the baked shadows to e.l.f.’s other eye shadows, you get less product.
