Company’s Description

Rich and creamy HD Blush naturally sculpts and highlights the cheekbones for a soft-focus effect that is great for everyday use. The Vitamin E enriched formula conditions and hydrates the skin for a healthy, radiant glow. Velvety soft, lightweight and highly pigmented color creates a long-lasting result for all day wear.

e.l.f. has added five (5) new shades of its new HD Blushes, which are now part of the company’s Studio line. This review is specifically for the shade Showstopper–a red wine color.

Packaging: 9.25/10

This blush comes in a clear, cylindrical, plastic tube and has a cap that surrounds a pump applicator. The bottle is very light.

Quality: 9.8/10

I thought Showstopper was going to be my least-used of the five (5) e.l.f. HD Blush shades because of how deep it is. Turns out, it’s my favorite of the bunch.

Just like all of the other colors, it is an amazingly pigmented, vibrant shade. It shows up much more pink (i.e. lighter) on the skin then it appears in the bottle. It will show up opaque if you use more than a small speck on each cheek and blend it out. Luckily, the cream formula for this blush does thin out smoothly and evenly if you use a small dab of product and blend it gradually out over the skin.

The blush leaves a velvety finish on the skin–not completely matte but also not reflecting light.

The blush stays strong all day without fading or becoming patchy, so you can expect it to look the same after the eighth hour of wear.

This is a shade that would be beautiful on deeper skin tones. But it works equally well on lighter skin–you just have to use less product.

Ease of Use: 9/10

The product, despite it opaque quality, blends out over the skin fairly smoothly and easily. I found it evened out slightly less evenly than the lighter HD Blush shades, but this is because the shade is so strong that you can see any unevenness more prominently than with a lighter shade. Make sure to use a very small amount of product at a time. I’ve found that using a duo-fiber brush helps to distribute the product thinly.

The only criticism I have is that it’s difficult to get a tiny amount of product out of the pump at a time.

Price: 10/10

For $3.00 you get 0.34 fl oz of product. This is an amazing price given how much blush you get.

One Response to Review & Swatches: e.l.f. Studio HD Blush in “Showstopper”

  1. I JUST got my package including the HD blush in Headliner. This one looked WAY too dark to be functional but now that I see your swatches I could definitely make that work… looks like I’m gonna have to make another trip to the elf site!
