Company’s Description

Liquid Lipsticks blast lips with super-saturated pigment that delivers unsurpassed color coverage. Get all the coverage you’d expect from a lipstick, through a soft, bouncy formula, lightly flavored with vanilla. Use smaller amount of product for sheer/medium coverage, or build up product for an opaque finish. It’s up to you, you’re in control!

This review is for the 5 new Liquid Lipsticks releasing with FaceFront’s upcoming Paradise in Flight Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:

  • In Motion: Transparent formula with a rainbow of soft, multi-reflective, non-gritty micro-glitters which provide the perfect complement to any lipstick base. Designed as a “lipstick topping” to add dimension to any traditional lipstick or Liquid Lipstick
  • Mototaxi: Chromatic taxi cab yellow
  • Purest Sin: Opaque pearly white with soft diamond shimmer
  • Heat Stroke: Slightly shimmery coral with a very dramatic yellow-orange base
  • It’s Amour: Sophisticated metallic champagne infused with a fleshy nude/salmon base

Packaging: 9/10

This gloss comes in a plastic squeeze tube and has a slanted plastic applicator. The packaging is lightweight and can easily be tossed in your purse.

Quality: 8.25/10

In Motion is clear with millions of multi-colored shimmers. Mototaxi is a bright yellow packed with finely-milled gold shimmers. Purest Sin is a snow white with a chrome finish. Heat Stroke is a strong coral with a subtle chrome finish. It’s Amour is a brick-toned pink with a silvery chrome finish.

All of these colors are strong and vibrant. With the exception of In Motion (which is not supposed to be opaque), all the colors have opaque finishes.

Although In Motion is suggested for use over another lipstick, it also works great on its own to give your lips a pretty, subtle shimmer. It gives a similar effect when used over a lipstick, contributing just a touch of shimmer to whatever color is underneath.

Mototaxi is incredibly pigmented. It’s not a color you can wear most of the time, even when you sheer it out. It’s use will be relegated mostly to artsy looks.

Purest Sin is snowy white and has the strongest chrome finish of all the colors. Again, it isn’t a color you can normally wear and its use will be limited to artsy/Halloween looks or professional use. When applied, the product balled up in various places, leaving small spheres of product on the lips. At first I thought my lips were just chapping, so I removed the product, exfoliated my lips, and applied the color again. But I got the same result. I did not get this effect with any of the other colors.

Heat Stroke leans strongly orange. Even if you sheer it out, it may be hard to pull off for most skin tones. But the color would look stunning on dark skin.

It’s Amour is the most wearable of the 5 colors. It’s very dramatic when applied regularly, but if you sheer it out, it can easily be an everyday lip color.

These Liquid Lipsticks are longer wearing than regular lipsticks or lipglosses. They have no tackiness to them but are also not slick. They last several hours on the lips before needing re-application and will last even longer if worn sheered-out.

Ease of Use: 8/10

I found these more difficult to work with than with normal lipsticks and glosses. It’s easy if you want a sheer application, in which case you can just apply the color with your finger. But if you’re wanting the full, opaque effect these are capable of giving, you have to take extra time to work with the product. The slanted applicators don’t provide very precise application. And the formula doesn’t spread as easily as I’d like.

FaceFront reformulated the Liquid Lipsticks that are releasing with this collection. I really applaud the company for trying to improve its product. FaceFront is one of the few companies I’ve seen that consistently makes changes in an attempt to improve the quality of what they produce. In this case, though, I think the formula would be better with a less viscous consistency.

Price: 9.75/10

Liquid Lipsticks cost $12.50 and contain 7 ml of product. For comparison, LORAC’s Couture Shine Liquid Lipsticks are $22.00 and contain 5 ml. Korres Liquid Lipsticks also $22.00 and contain 3.55 ml. You get a lot more product for the price with FaceFront’s Liquid Lipsticks.
