Company’s Description

Skin concerns, such as discoloration, dullness, blotchiness and dryness can come from a number of different sources. It’s hard to find just one product that addresses them all. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream immediately and effectively fullfills your skincare expectations with just one multi-benefit product that combines intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth.

This review is for Garnier’s Beauty Balm Cream, which comes in 2 shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark. The shade I tested and depicted, below, is Light/Medium.

Packaging: 9/10

This BB Cream comes in an opaque, plastic squeeze tube with a flip-open cap.

Quality: 7/10

This BB Cream has a thin cream formula that feels more like a face cream than a foundation or tinted moisturizer. It has very light coverage and won’t conceal anything but the most light and minor flaws. The consistency is very light-weight and sinks into the skin so that you don’t feel like you’re wearing makeup.

The formula also wears well through the day. The BB cream leaves a slightly dewy finish that doesn’t need setting with a powder unless you have combination or oily skin. The cream doesn’t do anything to keep oil production at bay, so you’ll have to blot if you normally get shiny.

I like that this product is easy to wear and looks very natural. Unfortunately, despite having an SPF of 15, the product doesn’t provide adequate sun protection. The active ingredient–Octinoxate–doesn’t effectively protection against UVA rays, which are the rays responsible for aging. This is especially disappointing because beauty balms are known for providing benefits that normal foundations don’t, like sun protection and skin-nourishing ingredients. On top of the inadequate sun protection, this product contains alcohol and fragrance–2 big skin-irritating ingredients.

I would give this product an A in terms of wear-ability and finish. But the extremely disappointing ingredients, particularly for a product that is supposed to be extra good for the skin, forces me to knock off significant points for quality.

Ease of Use: 10/10

This product is extremely easy to apply because of the light pigmentation and lotion-like consistency. You can apply it with your hands or a beauty tool/brush.

Price: 9.5/10

For about $13.00 you get 2.5 fl oz (75 ml). This is 2.5 times the size of your average BB Cream and much less than 2.5 times the price of your average BB Cream.

I won a free bottle of a “CC” cream from Olay in a contest. It’s Light to Medium. I don’t wear foundation & this was easy to use. It’s great, except it may be a little too dark. Is there a way to lighten a BB cream? Blend with a moisturizer?

The one for combination/oily skin has about half the content for the same prize. At least in Europe. That sucks …
