A small glass jar with an incredibly silky, iridescent powder in a variety of colors.
GOSH EFFECT POWDER can be used as an eye shadow. This shiny powder can give either a strong color effect or be faded out for a shivering effect as a highlighter. Can also be mixed with other colors of eye shadows for a dramatic effect.
GOSH is a Danish-based beauty brand that is popular in Europe and Canada. Their Effect Powders are metallic eye shadow pigments that can be used wet or dry. The color Purple Rain is reviewed, below.
These eye shadows come in tiny glass jars. Inside, there is a plastic cap that has a flip-open lid, which keeps the pigment securely in the jar. Because the jar is so small, it can be difficult to get an eye shadow brush into the jar, depending on the size.
Purple Rain is a shimmery, medium lilac purple with fairly large silver glitters mixed in. I don’t know if these are cosmetic-grade glitters, but I would guess they aren’t because of how large they are.
Regardless, the silver glitters don’t adhere to the skin. They look stunning in the jar, but simply drop off the skin when the pigment is applied dry. The purple part of the shadow is decently pigmented.
When applied wet, the silver shimmers adhere better to the skin. But the shadow applies unevenly and the silver glitters clump together, causing more purple shadow to gather around them.
Ease of Use: 7.5/10
Applying this pigment dry is problematic because the silver glitter doesn’t adhere to the skin. Applying the shadow wet means an uneven finish.
For $10.00, you get 2.5 grams of shadow. MAC pigments cost $20.00 and contain 4.5 grams.
