Company’s Description
Each of these glorious colours makes a statement that is as individual as you are. Highly pigmented, prepare for an intensity that’s not just colour-true but extremely long-lasting. Experiment and be bold.
Illamasqua’s Human Fundamentalism collection will release 4 new shades. This review is for all 4 of the following colors:
- Burst: Blue Green
- Pivot: Yellow Green
- Vernau: Yellow Ochre
- Obsidian: Rich Black
Vernau and Obsidian are available through Illamasqua’s website.
Packaging: 9/10
Illamasqua’s powder eye shadows come in pinched square plastic compacts with snap-shut lids and see-through tops.
Quality: 8/10
Burst is a classic, medium teal. Pivot is an acid green. Vernau is a yellow-based, soft brown. Obsidian is a plain black.
All of these shades are matte. The formula is slightly dusty.
The colors don’t go on opaquely or evenly. They need several layers to build up and even-out the finish. Burst and Pivot don’t apply as brightly as they look in the pan.
Ease of Use: 8.5/10
You need to pack the powders onto the brush and apply multiple layers.
Price: 9/10
For $20.00 you get 2 grams (0.07 ounces) of shadow. MAC’s shadows cost $15.00 and contain 1.5 grams. You get the same product-to-price ratio with both companies.
I like that Illamasqua does mattes, but I haven’t found one yet that was smooth and even enough for my taste.
