A cream blush makes you glow; it brightens the eyes and gives a youthful, sun-kissed look, almost like coming back from a brisk walk. I apply it to the apple of the cheek and it melts with the warmth of the fingers. Cream blush enlivens the skin and gives a youthful appearance.
Kjaer Weis is a high-end brand that offers a refillable makeup system. Its cream blush line includes 4 colors. The color Blossoming–a soft rose pink–is reviewed here.
This blush comes in heavy metal packaging with an architectural design. The cover slides back and forth to reveal the pan underneath.
This packaging is absolutely beautiful and luxurious–the type of packaging I often wish MAC would produce for its special collaboration collections but usually fails to do so. Even other high end brands like Dior or Chanel doesn’t quite achieve the luxurious feeling Kjaer Weis does with its packaging.
My only criticism is that the packaging attracts finger prints.
Blossoming is a beautiful, wearable pink color that will work on any skin color and tone except maybe very dark skin. The blush leaves a color and finish to the skin that I can’t fully describe in words. The color doesn’t have any glitter or shimmer in it, but does leave a beautiful sheen to the skin that isn’t oily or greasy–just luminous.
Many companies say that their blushers or bronzers give you a “lit from within” glow. But unlike cream blushes from other companies, this one actually comes close to giving you that effect. It sinks into the skin, looking natural and beautiful.
The formula is very smooth and creamy. The blush applies evenly, blends easily, and layers effectively.
Ease of Use: 9.8/10
Cream blushes usually take more work to blend because patches of the product will lift in the process of blending, requiring you to re-apply in those patches to make the finish even.
This cream blush doesn’t do that, so you can apply and blend and be done. Or you can apply additional layers without getting a patchy finish.
For $54.00 you get 3.5 grams (0.123 ounces) of product. La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Cream Blush costs $70.00 and contains 0.26 ounces. YSL’s Creme de Blush costs $38.00 and contains 0.19 ounces.
The blush itself, though, is only $26.00, so the remaining $28.00 is the cost for the packaging. $26.00 is an extremely reasonable price for a high-end blush. And given how luxurious the packaging is, I’d say that $28.00 for the refillable compact is pretty reasonable also. You are free, of course, to buy just the blush palette.
