Company’s Description

This collection captures the vibrant hues of the brightly lit New York City skyline at night in three luminous Lip Pops Waterproof Lip Glosses. Each show-stopping shade goes on creamy and leaves a natural-looking tint on lips.

Part of Laura Geller’s new Summer 2012 collection is the Bright Lips, Big City lip gloss trio. The company claims that these lip glosses are waterproof and will leave a natural-looking tint to the lips. This review is for the Lip Pop in Nolita Pink–a bright, medium pink.

Packaging: 9/10

Laura Geller’s Lip Pops come in short, see-through plastic tubes. They come with very short, rounded brush applicators.

Quality: 9.25/10

Nolita Pink is a bright, vibrant color without being clownish.

At first, the formula is very emollient. It’s a thin gloss without any tackiness or stickiness. After a minute, the gloss dries and gains a bit of tackiness. It’s not an unpleasant feeling, but you can feel it if you press your lips together. The dried formula makes the gloss last much longer on your lips than a normal gloss would.

You can wear this color with 1 layer, which gives you a more sheer look or add another layer for a more opaque look.

The gloss smells slightly sweet, but I didn’t notice the scent while wearing the gloss.

This gloss isn’t transfer-proof, so if you drink it will show up on the edge of the glass. But it does resist water, similar to the way a raincoat beads water.

The color dies down after an hour and a half and fades almost completely after 3 hours. The gloss also does leave a slight stain after the product has worn off, so Laura Geller’s claim that you’ll be left with a natural-looking tint is accurate.

Ease of Use: 8.75/10

The short, stubby brush makes application easier and more precise. You do need to spend more time blending the color out because it can end up looking uneven.

Price: 7/10

For now, you can only get these glosses in the trio released with Laura Geller’s Summer 2012 collection. For $36.00 you get a total of 0.36 ounces of gloss. Despite getting 3 colors, this isn’t a good price-point given the small amount of product you get.
