Designed by L’Oreal makeup artists, these beautifully coordinated shadows let you easily create the perfect smoky effect for your eye color.
L’Oreal’s Project Runway The Electric Fantasie Collection launched this month in drugstores. The collection includes four (4) eye shadow quads. This review is for the quad in The Muse’s Gaze, which includes an aqua, gold, coral, and deep forest green shade.
This eyeshadow quad comes in a square, plastic compact with a flip-up, see-through lid. The product also comes with a sponge-tip applicator.
The formula for these shadows is stiff and dry. You will need to apply extra pressure on the brush when picking up the powder to get it to transfer. You can get decent color out of the shades, but only with multiple layers and by applying more pressure to the powder and skin.
The colors are not opaque and are average-to-weak in pigmentation. The least pigmented is the coral shade, followed by the dark green and aqua shades. The best pay-off comes from the gold color.
All of the colors have shimmer in them, with the gold shade giving off the most shine, and the deep green shade giving off a mostly matte finish with a few specks of light green shimmer here and there.
Applied over bare skin, these colors began to fade and crease after two (2) hours of wear. With primer, the shades began to fade and crease after three and a half (3.5) hours of wear. The coral shade fades most quickly and more drastically than the other colors in this palette.
Ease of Use: 8/10
The best way to get color pay-off from these shades is to use a dense, flat brush and to apply the colors over primer and/or a colored base. Expect to use more pressure on your brush and to apply more than one-to-two layers of color.
Prices vary depending on where you purchase these quads, but for around $9.00 you get 0.16 ounces (4.8 grams) of product. The is the same amount of product as you get with Revlon’s new ColorStay eyeshadow quads. The price is on the higher end for a drugstore eyeshadow quad.
