L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadows contain ultra concentrated colour pigments, for an intense colour finish. Additional binders (oils) coat and magnify the colour pigments revealing beautiful shimmer and maximized colour. The colour adheres to the eyelid as durably and comfortably as a second skin and lasts for up to 24hrs. With a formulation that lies between the comfort of a cream and the ease of application of a powder, infallible eyeshadow melts gently from the fingertips to the eye lid on application. The result is a luxurious, velvety texture. Infallible Eyeshadow provides sweatproof, waterproof, crease resistant wear with velvet-soft texture that blends easily, providing luminous color with a smooth, even finish.
L’Oreal’s Holiday 2012 “Diamond” collection includes three (3) limited-edition Infallible Eyeshadow shades: Blinged & Brilliant, Primped & Precious, and Gold Imperial (repromote). This review is for the shade Blinged & Brilliant–a light, frosty, pink-champagne.
The Infallible Eyeshadows come in plastic jars that are clear on the bottom to allow you to see the color inside. The caps twist off. Inside, you’ll find a stopper that keeps the shadow underneath in place.
Blinged & Brilliant is a high-voltage, pigmented shade. It’s not as opaque as many of the other Infallible Eyeshadow shades, but it gives off strong color. This shade is also less smooth-looking on the skin than some of the other shades. This characteristic, combined with its frosty finish means it’s not the best shade for mature skin–it will make wrinkles much more prominent.
The formula feels like a powder with a little bit of humidity to it. It doesn’t quite feel mousse-like or bouncy the way MAC’s Electric Cool eye shadows or Maybelline’s Dram Bouncy Blushes do. The formula blends easily and can be used either dry or wet.
The shadow wore well through the day. Without primer, the color started to fade in the crease area after about two and a half (2.5) hours of wear. With primer, I saw fading around the crease area after about seven (7) hours of wear.
Of course, L’Oreal’s 24-hour claim is over-blown, and you’d hopefully not be wearing any makeup product for 24-hours straight anyway. I wish companies would stop making such outrageous claims.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
This shade applies smoothly and blends out evenly without having to do extra buffing. You can make the color sheer by using a fluffy brush, or you can get the exact intensity of color you see in the jar by using a dense brush. You can also apply the shadow with a damp or dry brush.
For about $8.00 you get 0.12 ounces (3.5 grams) of product. This product contains more than your average amount of eyeshadow compared to other drugstore-brand shadows, but it’s also on the slightly higher side of the price spectrum for a single shadow.
