L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadows contain ultra concentrated colour pigments, for an intense colour finish. Additional binders (oils) coat and magnify the colour pigments revealing beautiful shimmer and maximized colour. The colour adheres to the eyelid as durably and comfortably as a second skin and lasts for up to 24hrs. With a formulation that lies between the comfort of a cream and the ease of application of a powder, infallible eyeshadow melts gently from the fingertips to the eye lid on application. The result is a luxurious, velvety texture. Infallible Eyeshadow provides sweatproof, waterproof, crease resistant wear with velvet-soft texture that blends easily, providing luminous color with a smooth, even finish.
L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadows are now available in over 2 dozen shades. L’Oreal claims that this eyeshadow will be intense, sweatproof, waterproof, crease resistant, and will last 24 hours. This review is for the shade Golden Sage–a silvery pistachio color.
The Infallible Eyeshadows come in plastic jars that are clear on the bottom to allow you to see the color inside. The caps twist off. Inside, you’ll find a stopper that keeps the shadow underneath in place.
Golden Sage is a slightly muted pistachio green with a metallic, silvery finish.
The formula feels like a powder with a little bit of humidity to it. It doesn’t quite feel mousse-like or bouncy the way MAC’s Electric Cool eye shadows or Maybelline’s Dram Bouncy Blushes do. The formula blends easily and can be used either dry or wet.
The shadow wore ok through the day, but definitely did not go as long without creasing as the other shades I have tested. Without primer, the color started to crease after 3 hours of wear. With primer, I saw creasing after 3.5 hours. By the end of the day, after 9-10 hours of wear, the color had completely creased and faded from the lid.
Even though this color is shimmery, I didn’t notice any fall-out of shimmer particles as the day went on.
Of course, L’Oreal’s 24-hour claim is over-blown, and you’d hopefully not be wearing any makeup product for 24-hours straight anyway. I wish companies would stop making such outrageous claims.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
This shade applies smoothly and blends out evenly without having to do extra buffing. You can make the color sheer by using a fluffy brush, or you can get the exact intensity of color you see in the jar by using a dense brush.
Despite the color being shimmery, I didn’t have to clean up any fall-out after application.
For about $8.00 you get 0.12 ounces (3.5 grams) of product. This product contains more than your average amount of eyeshadow compared to other drugstore-brand shadows, but it’s also on the slightly higher side of the price spectrum for a single shadow.
