Company’s Description

Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. Limited edition Lipglass is packaged in blue and white stripes; it’s a match to everything Hey, Sailor!

This review is for the 5 Lipglasses releasing with MAC’s upcoming Hey, Sailor! Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:

  • Cut Loose: White with gold pearl
  • Orange Tempera: Pale peach
  • Riviera Life: Bright tangerine
  • Blessedly Rich: Pale coral
  • Send Me Sailing: Bright yellow red

Packaging: 9/10

These Lipglasses come in standard MAC packaging with doe-foot applicators. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go. The packaging is decorated with blue nautical stripes, both on the handles and tube.

Quality: 9.5/10

Cut Loose is a translucent white with silver shimmers. The color does settle into lip lines, emphasizing them somewhat. I like this color better with a sheer layer than with multiple layers. A sheerer application helps make the white color more wearable and doesn’t emphasize lip lines as much.

Orange Tempera is a slightly milky, translucent peach. I have the same thoughts about this color as I do for Cut Loose.

Riviera Life is a ripe tangerine orange with tons of gold shimmers. It looks beautiful both sheer and layered and would complement dark skin amazingly.

Blessedly Rich is a brown-bronze-tan with bronze and silver shimmers. I have no idea where MAC is going with describing this as a “pale coral,” but it’s nothing close to that. It has a formula unlike the other colors. It has a liquid-metal quality and leaves a mind-blowing amount of shimmer on the lips. It’s stunning!

Send Me Sailing is a berry-red when applied sheer and more of a classic red when layered. I like this color better sheer because I think it looks more unique. But it’s also a great, bold red when layered.

The Lipglass formula is emollient, moisturizing, and non-sticky. I get about 2 hours of wear on Lipglasses before they need touching up.

Ease of Use: 9.25/10

These are very easy to work with because the doe-foot applicator gives you a precise application. You can effectively layer these color or keep it sheer. You do need to dip back into the tube once or twice to get enough product to cover the lips.

Price: 9/10

Everything in the Hey, Sailor! collection is $1.00 more than normally-price MAC items because of the special limited-edition packaging.
