Combining comfort, flawless sheer-low transparent coverage and long wear, this is bronze with a fully dimensional yet natural finish. Comes in a nautical blue and white striped compact.
This review is for the 2 new, limited-edition Pro Longwear Bronzing Powders releasing with MAC’s upcoming Hey, Sailor! Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- Naked On Board: Bronzy, yellow tone
- Sun Dipped: Dirty red tone
These powders come in standard MAC packaging except that it is decorated with blue nautical stripes. These plastic compacts have flip-up, snap-shut lids with mirrors inside and can easily be taken on-the-go.
Naked On Board is a strongly yellow-based tan (ie a camel color). This color would be best suited for skin with yellow undertones. Even then, a more red-based bronzer might work better. Yellow-based bronzers run the risk of making you look sallow. The skin (whether you have warm- or cool-toned skin) naturally gains a reddish tint when it’s tanning.
Sun Dipped is a more neutral tan color. I think this color will work for a wider range of skin colors.
The Pro Longwear bronzer formula is buttery-smooth and very soft. The powders glide over the skin and blend out smoothly. The formula is much more crumbly compared to MAC’s regular bronzing formula, though, so be wary of fall-out.
Despite the long-wearing claims, I don’t find that this bronzer lasts on my skin longer than the regular bronzing formula. If anything, the softer texture tends to mix with my skin’s natural oils more as the day goes on. The bronzers don’t fade faster than the regular formula, but I just don’t find that they last a lot longer either.
Both shades have a slight sheen to them, but it’s subtle enough that you could still use these bronzers for contouring.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
These bronzers are a pleasure to use because of the soft formula that blends out smoothly.
These bronzers contain 12 grams and cost $28.00 each.
