Review & Swatches: MAC Lips & Tips Lipglasses (Part 1)

MAC Lips & Tips Lipglasses

Availability: MAC Stores & Online
Price: $14.50

Company’s Description

A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.

This review is for 5 of the 16 Lipglasses releasing with MAC’s upcoming Lips & Tips Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:

  • Saint Germain: Light cool pink
  • Myth: Light neutral nude
  • Angel: Light warm pink
  • Razzledazzler: Light cream peach
  • Snob: Light neutral pink

Russian Red is included in this collection, but is a permanent color.

Packaging: 9/10

These Lipglasses come in standard MAC packaging with doe-foot applicators. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go.

Quality: 8.75/10

Saint Germain is a milky, blue-based, pale pink color. The finish is transparent and the color does settle a bit into lip lines but is otherwise a very wearable color.

Myth is a medium nude with a strong orange/yellow undertone that I find quite unflattering. It’s the transparent, Lipglass version of MAC’s Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick and a paler version of Viva Glam Gaga 2 lip gloss. Like Saint Germain, it settles a little into lip lines.

Angel is a neutral pink with silver micro-shimmers. The color is not milky like Saint Germain and Myth but does still settle ever-so-slightly into lip lines.

Razzledazzler is a soft, neutral peach. Peaches can clash with many skin tones, but this one is soft enough to be wearable. Plus, it has a semi-transparent finish, which allows your underlying lip color to balance out the peach.

Snob is a slightly deeper version of Saint Germain. It is also milky and settles into lip lines.

I get about 2 hours of wear on Lipglasses before they need touching up.

I don’t think there is anything particularly fantastic about these 5 lip colors. The most unique is Razzledazzler, and I’m glad that MAC has come out with a wearable peach. Angel is very beautiful on the lips and would also be wearable on a wide range of skin tones and colors.

Ease of Use: 9/10

These are very easy to work with because the doe-foot applicator gives you a precise application and the colors are so sheer that you can apply them quickly without worrying how accurate you’re being.

Price: 9/10

These are the same size (4.8 grams) as regular MAC Tinted Lipglasses and the same price ($14.50).

All of these colors are gorgeous but they do settle into the lips 🙁 I wouldn’t purchase them
