Review & Swatches: MAC Lips & Tips Lipglasses (Part 3)

MAC Lips & Tips Lipglasses

Availability: MAC Stores & Online
Price: $14.50

Company’s Description

A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.

This review is for 5 of the 16 Lipglasses releasing with MAC’s upcoming Lips & Tips Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:

  • Morange: Bright cream orange
  • Spice: Mid-tone neutral nude
  • Girl About Town: Bright blue fuchsia
  • Rebel: Mid-tone cream plum
  • Chestnut: Rich chocolate brown

Russian Red is included in this collection, but is a permanent color.

Packaging: 9/10

These Lipglasses come in standard MAC packaging with doe-foot applicators. The tubes are made of plastic and can easily be taken on-the-go.

Quality: 8.8/10

Morange is a vivid orange that gives off dense color while still being semi-transparent. The color doesn’t emphasize lip lines. This color is stunning for deep skin colors but also works well as a Summer color for all skin tones.

Spice is a mid-toned nude with a slight pink tint to it. It’s a universal color and what I consider a great “my lips but better” shade. It also does not emphasize lip lines.

Girl About Town is a mid-toned fuchsia with silver micro-glitters. The finish is translucent, which means you need to layer to get a more even finish. But the color luckily doesn’t emphasize lip lines.

Rebel is a medium, translucent plum. It’s a wearable berry color, but unfortunately does emphasize lip lines a little.

Chestnut is a chocolate brown when applied to the lips. Of all the Lipglasses in the Lips & Tips collection, this is my least favorite. It appears streaky on the lips even after adding multiple layers and blending with the applicator.

I get about 2 hours of wear on Lipglasses before they need touching up.

I think Spice is a brilliant color due to its universal quality. Girl About Town and Morange are also bright, fun colors suitable for Spring and Summer.

Ease of Use: 9/10

These are very easy to work with because the doe-foot applicator gives you a precise application and the colors are so sheer that you can apply them quickly without worrying how accurate you’re being.

Chestnut was the only color I really had problems with, as discussed above. You can’t even out the color by rubbing or pressing your lips together, because that creates a distinct line on the lips instead of blending the color out.

Price: 9/10

These are the same size (4.8 grams) as regular MAC Tinted Lipglasses and the same price ($14.50).
