Supersheer, high lustre, with luxurious comfort, this Lip Gloss looks beautiful solo, or paired with Lipstick. Marcel Wanders’ sculpted chrome applicator and packaging adds to the sophistication.
This review is for the 4 limited-edition Lip Gloss colors releasing with MAC’s upcoming Marcel Wanders Collection. This post includes photographs and swatches of the following colors:
- Jana: creamy beige with gold pearl
- Julia: light blue pink with pearl
- Kim: dirty plum with pearl
- Karin: pink-mauve with pearl
Marcel Wanders Lip Glosses come in clear plastic tubes with uniquely-shaped, chrome silver handles and brush applicators. On the side of the tube is the Marcel Wanders logo. Unfortunately, the handles will get fingerprints on them, but the packaging is otherwise quite artistic and light-weight.
Jana is a light beige with gold and silver pearls. On the lips, this is a clear gloss consisting mostly of its shimmers, of which there are a ton.
Julia is a slightly dusty rose with red, pink, and silver pearls. It gives a tint of rosy-pink to the lips with plenty of pink and silver shimmer.
Kim is a vibrant, deep, plum-rose with pink and silver pearls. Like with the Inez lipstick from this collection, I think this is a brilliant color. It sheers on the lips, giving them a strong but translucent serving of color and shimmer.
Karin is a purple-mauve with purple and silver pearls. It gives the lips a sheer tint of pinky-purple with a strong presence of silver and light purple shimmer.
These glosses are not sticky, glide onto the lips smoothly, and moisturize the skin. The consistency is thin.
Like with the lipsticks in this collection, these are all wearable, classy colors that will suit almost any skin tone and color. The shimmers are stunning without being overbearing.
I get around 2 hours of wear before needing to re-apply.
Ease of Use: 9.75/10
The thin consistency makes these glosses glide onto the skin effortlessly.
Each tube costs $22.50 and contains 2.7 grams (0.09 ounces) of lip gloss. The Gareth Pugh Lipglasses cost $22.00 and contained 5 grams of product. Normally, Lipglasses contain 4.8 grams and cost $14.50.
Even though you should expect to pay more for special-edition items like these, $22.50 is very expensive given how little gloss you’re getting.
