Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. It’s long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending.
Make Up For Ever will be releasing 4 new shades to the currently-existing 21 shades in its Aqua Cream line. The new shades are 23, 24, 25, and 26.
This launch corresponds closely with MUFE’s recent launch of Aqua Shadows. You can read the review for those here.
It’s unclear when these will be available at Sephora stores, but my estimate is that they will show up in the next couple of weeks.
Aqua Creams come in plastic jars with securely-fitting screw-on tops. The plastic makes them a little less luxurious than MAC’s glass packaging for its Paint Pots, but the jars are just as durable. Plus, the plastic makes these jars extremely lightweight, which is a blessing if you want to add them to your kit or travel with them.
All 4 new shades have fantastic pigmentation and apply opaque color. 23 is a light, lime green with a frosty finish. 24 is a matte, bumblebee yellow. 25 is a baby blue with a frosty finish. 26 is a violet purple with finely-milled, slightly lighter purple shimmers.
The formula for these Aqua Creams is extremely smooth and silky. After several seconds, the color sets on the skin, leaves a dry and barely tacky surface, and won’t budge. The colors are crease-resistant, smudge-proof, and very waterproof.
After doing a smudge test, I saw no transferring of color. Plus, you don’t need a primer under Aqua Creams in order to get the long-wearing benefits MUFE claims.
Note that these boxes say “Eyes & Cheeks,” which means MUFE suggests they not be used on the lips.
Ease of Use: 9.5/10
The colors glide onto the skin effortlessly. 24 and 26 did take 1-2 more swipes to smooth out the texture, but overall these are extremely easy to use. Make sure to work quickly if you plan to blend the color out, though. Once these creams dry, they aren’t budging!
For $23.00 you get 0.21 ounces of product. MAC Chromalines are $18.50 and contain 0.17 ounces. Paint Pots cost $17.50 and contain 0.17 ounces. You get close to the same amount of product per dollar with each product.
