Review & Swatches: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Bronzers in “Glistening Sun” & “Sun Glow”

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Bronzers in Glistening Sun & Sun Glow

Availability: Drugstores & ULTA
Price: $8-9

For Summer 2012, Maybelline is adding 2 bronzing colors to its Dream Bouncy line: Glistening Sun and Sun Glow. These have the same form-factor and formula as Maybelline’s recently released Dream Bouncy Blushes.

Packaging: 9.25/10

These blushes come in compacts with snap-shut lids. The pans themselves are dome-shaped. The packaging is light-weight and ideal for carrying in a makeup bag.

Quality: 9/10

These are extremely soft-to-the-touch, just like the blushes are. The pans will deform under pressure and don’t quite “bounce” back to their original form.

The formula is smooth and feels like a mousse with a powdery finish. Both colors are pigmented and very shimmery, making them great for using as a bronzer on the cheeks, but not as all-over face bronzers.

Glistening Sun is a medium, yellow-based gold. Sun Glow is a light bronze-brown.

You get decent wear out of these colors–about 4-5 hours before the color starts to fade.

Ease of Use: 8.75/10

These are best applied with a small, rounded blush or highlighting brush. But they require more pressure to spread the product than other cream blushes.

Price: 9.25/10

You get 5.6 grams of product for around $9. Revlon’s Cream Blushes retail at a similar price-point but only contain 3.4 grams. NYX Cream Blushes cost $6.50 and contain 5.3 grams.

I had no idea they were adding these to the Dream Bouncy collection…that’s so cool! I only hope this collection will be released in my country too

  2. Dominique says:

These look like they are way more pigemented than the blushes, i think i will pick one up.

  3. Sthobbie says:

They look à bit orange to me

    • Allura says:

I wouldn’t say either of them are orange. And they’re shimmery, so they’ll be used on the cheeks instead of for contouring or all-over bronzing. Orange tones aren’t as bad when you’re using something on the cheeks. It’s when you have an orange-toned bronzer that you use for contouring or on the forehead, etc. that it looks very fake.
