The gorgeous afterglow of classic Orgasm is reinvented in this quad that combines Orgasm blush plus vivid shades of pink and peach and a shimmering gold to create your own signature glow.
NARS’ new Foreplay palette includes 4 cheek colors: a Peach Matte Blush, a Gold Highlighting Blush, a Pink Matte Blush, and NARS’ infamous Orgasm Blush. This palette is sold exclusively through Sephora.
This palette has the exact same packaging as NARS blushes, except that the palette is about twice as big. The palette conveniently includes a full-sized mirror.
The top left color is a medium coral-peach shade with a matte finish. The top right is a gold highlighting color consisting of mostly tiny gold shimmer and a little bit of pale gold powder. Orgasm is a peachy-pink with a shimmering gold finish. The bottom left color is a bright, blue-based pink with a matte finish.
I’m impressed at the consistent quality of these colors. With other NARS palettes I’ve tested, I’ve been disappointed by the inconsistency in quality (see the Danmari palette, for example). But the 4 shades in this palette are all good quality. The 3 blushes have great pigmentation and blend out fairly smoothly. Matte blushes are prone to unevenness or patchy finishes, but the mattes in this palette leave a pretty even finish. The gold highlighter has finely-milled shimmer, so the sheen you get is refined, not chunky or heavy-handed.
The formula for the blushes is not soft, but also not stiff or dry. So the powder transfers onto the skin without creating a lot of dust or needing multiple layers.
The individual colors are good quality, but I also like this palette overall. I think NARS made a good choice in making the Orgasm blush have a bigger pan, since it’s the color that will have the biggest draw from many customers. It’s also a smart choice to make the highlighter the smallest pan, since you don’t use as much product when you apply a highlighter. The offering of 2 matte shades is great–it brings versatility and balance to this palette.
Ease of Use: 9/10
Using these colors is pretty easy. In particular, the mattes blend out well, needing only a little bit of buffing and layering to ensure a smooth finish. Orgasm applies evenly also, and you don’t risk looking like a disco-ball with the gold highlighter.
For $49.00 you get 0.36 ounces of product. NARS’ single Blushes cost $28.00 and contain 0.16 ounces. You’re getting a little more product per dollar with the Foreplay palette, plus variety.
