Company’s Description
Bright. Bold. Perfectly matte. This super-rich lipstick provides high-impact payoff: an ultra-pigmented, long-wearing formula that glides on effortlessly with comfortable wear.
NARS’ Pure Matte Lipstick in Amsterdam is a new shade released with the company’s Fall 2012 collection. NARS describes Amsterdam as a garnet red.
Packaging: 9/10
This lipstick comes in a thin tube made of NARS’ classic black, rubberized plastic. The cap slides on and off and the base twists to push up more product.
Quality: 9.8/10
Amsterdam is a deep red that does not lean too orange and leaves a satin-matte finish.
The formula, though matte, doesn’t dry out the lips. It won’t moisturize them either, so those who want moisture will need to apply a balm on top.
What I love about this color is its durability. The color lasts on my lips for a good 3+ hours. What’s even better is that it wears off evenly, which is very rare for a lipstick (color usually wears significantly more quickly in the middle of the lips than at the edges). Even after the product comes off, Amsterdam leaves a good-strength stain on your lips for another hour.
The other thing I like about this product is that you can wear it sheer or intense. It looks beautiful either way.
Ease of Use: 8.75/10
The formula is dry, so it will skip over the skin a bit. You can press and rub your lips together, or layer the product to even its finish.
Price: 7.5/10
For $25.00 you get 0.07 ounces of product. This is an expected price, but you get significantly less product than with other market-equivalent brands.
